Southern Fried Chicken

 

INGRIDIENTS:

  • Chicken pieces (drumsticks, thighs, breast, etc.)
  • Buttermilk
  • All-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper
  • Paprika
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

HOW TO MAKE:

  1. In a large bowl, soak chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder to taste.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F.
  4. Dredge each chicken piece in the seasoned flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  5. Fry chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 15-20 minutes for dark meat and 10-15 minutes for white meat. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve hot with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or biscuits.
